RIP Ronni Chasen

c.m: Murder

Date of death: November 16, 2010

After attending the premiere of the Sony Pictures/Screen Gems film Burlesque, Ronni Chasen was fatally shot five times before crashing her car into a lamp post. As of press time, motive nor suspect has been announced.

Chasen began her career as a publicist in 1973, and worked on films such as 1989's Driving Miss Daisy and 1994's Lolita. Chasen represented such entertainment luminaries as the late actress Natalie Wood, composer Hans Zimmer, and move producers Dick Zanuck and Irwin Winkler.

A longtime Rogers & Cowan senior movie publicist, spanning decades, Chasen went out on her own, establishing Chasen & Company Publicity around 1991. She had a thriving business, especially at awards time, representing directors, writers, musicians, actors, and films. She was incredibly well-liked by Hollywood and the media and her enthusiasm for her clients was infectious, even to the most cynical of journalists.

Ronni Chasen was 64 years old.
