RIP Teena Marie

c.m: TBD

Teena Marie (born Mary Christine Brockert) (March 5, 1956 - December 26, 2010) was an American Grammy Award-nominated singer–songwriter–producer. Marie, nicknamed Lady Tee, (sometimes spelled Lady T), was a protegĂ©e of late funk legend Rick James, and was notable as one of the few successful Caucasian performers of R&B. She played rhythm guitar, keyboards and congas. She also wrote, produced, sung and arranged virtually all of her songs since her 1980 release "Irons in the Fire." She said this is her favorite album. In 2010, Marie continued to be a headliner on the Las Vegas Strip, appearing regularly at the Las Vegas Hilton and other venues.

She is survived by a daughter named Alia Rose who, as of 2009, sings under the name Rose Le Beau.
